Anatomy:

Deep core muscles include: Transverse abdominis, Diaphragm and Pelvic floor muscles

Superficial: External and Internal Obliques and Rectus abdominis.

What is the importance of proper core recruitment?

  • Prevention of back pain

  • Reduce pelvic pain

  • Proper load transfer to decrease risk of organ prolapse

  • Helps improve incontinence issues

  • Proper synergy between pelvic floor and diaphragm (internal pressure is more balanced).

  • Improvement in posture

  • Improves Balance

  • Facilitates daily tasks due to increased strength and better posture/mechanics

  • Feeling and looking good!

Holy To-lido! Who knew that there were so many benefits of core strength?! It is time to get off that comfy chair and do some planks! Ha ha :)
